María Óskarsdóttir

María Óskarsdóttir holds a Ph.D. in Business Analytics from KU Leuven, Belgium, and a Master’s degree in Mathematics form the Leibniz Universität Hannover in Germany. She was a post-doctoral researcher in insurance analytics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, KU Leuven, where her research puts focus on applying social network analytics techniques for predictive modeling in marketing, credit scoring and insurance. She has published papers in international peer-reviewed journals like Expert Systems with Applications and Business & Information Systems Engineering.

Currently, María works as an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science at Reykjavík University.

Tom Reynkens

Tom Reynkens was a postdoctoral researcher in actuarial science at the Faculty of Economics and Business of KU Leuven. He holds a PhD in Mathematics on the subject of extreme value theory. His research interests are statistical methods for non-life insurance pricing and loss modelling, extreme value theory, reinsurance and fraud detection.

Tom currently works as a data scientist at Belfius Bank.

Pieter Segaert

Pieter Segaert was a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Science of KU Leuven. He holds a PhD in Mathematics on the topic of robust statistics. His research interests range from statistical methodology to applications in different fields, actuarial science in particular.

Pieter currently works as a data scientist at Belfius Insurance.

Seppe vanden Broucke

Seppe vanden Broucke received a PhD in Applied Economics at KU Leuven, Belgium in 2014. Seppe's research interests include business data mining and analytics, machine learning, process management and process mining. His work has been published in well-known international journals and presented at top conferences.

Currently, Seppe is working as an assistant professor at the department of Business Informatics at UGent and is a lecturer at KU Leuven.

Roel Verbelen

Roel Verbelen was a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven. His research is supervised by Gerda Claeskens and Katrien Antonio and he obtained an IWT Doctoral Grant from the Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology. The main focus in his research is the use of advanced statistical methods in non-life insurance, in particular in loss modeling, telematics insurance and reserving.

Roel currently works as a statistician at Finity Consulting.
