Career Corner

Career Corner is the online platform for recruitment and career advancement of our faculty. It results from a unique collaboration between the faculty and its student societies.

Stepping stone to the job market

The Faculty of Economics and Business aims to offer its students a unique learning environment via a three-tiered learning approach:

  1. education firmly grounded in research and strengthening analytical rigour,
  2. development of management skills through internships, workshops and skills programmes, and
  3. immersion learning through intensive, hands-on project work, student consulting (junior enterprise) and student entrepreneurships (student incubator).

It stimulates each of its students to add practical experience to their curriculum in order to bridge the gap between academia and the business world and to become better prepared for tomorrow's job market.

Our career platform Career Corner provides all our students and young graduates with an overview of all possibilities to get in touch with the labour market or to get prepared for your professional career:

  • During a free study internship or a study related part-time job, you gain lots of additional practical experience.
  • As part of a group and in addition to your studies, you can participate in an advice project for a company or solve a problem for an NGO.
  • Even while you are still studying, we can support you with the start-up of your own business.
  • Through career events, workshops and skill development programmes, you learn to actively take steps towards finding your perfect job.
  • If you have any questions about your CV, job possibilities, etc., you can always contact our on campus Randstad consultants. For this purpose, Faculty of Economics and Business and Randstad have closed a unique partnership agreement.

Career Corner portfolio

As a student, you have chosen for a versatile degree programme that prepares for a broad range of jobs, occupations, industries and careers. Employers take a critical look at applicants and will ask to convince them that you are the right candidate. Your personal portfolio is the ideal starting point to boost your profile, convince employers of your commitment, and prepare for the application process.

Not only have you acquired knowledge and insight during lectures, you may also have improved your competences during an internship, a study period abroad or a summer school. Maybe you were active as a student-entrepreneur, or maybe you were a member of a student consultancy team? You might have participated in case competitions or skills programmes, or you might have taken responsibility as a buddy of fellow students, in the board of a student organisation or during the development of large events.

Have you ever participated in activities that are a ‘plus’ for your CV? Your portfolio is there to have this broad range of activities certified by the faculty. This certificate will allow you to show employers which activities contributed to the development of your personal and professional identity. After all, employers often ask to give concrete examples of the competences you acquired.

What after graduation?

Your diploma is a direct ticket to an interesting career. Thanks to your broad and multifaceted education, you function in the most diverse positions in companies and organisations. A lot of employers are very keen on welcoming young graduates with your skills. Where can you start? A few alumni talk about their own experiences.
