9th Summer School on Data and Algorithms for ST&I Studies | Antwerp | 11-13 September 2024

KU Leuven, in collaboration with Google, European Patent Office, UCD Dublin, and EPFL, is excited to invite you to the 9th Annual Summer School on Data and Algorithms for Science, Technology & Innovation (ST&I) Studies. Set in the heart of Antwerp at our new KU Leuven campus Opera, this event promises an enriching experience for both junior and senior researchers in ST&I studies.

         

Event Highlights:

  • Location: KU Leuven Campus Opera, Jezusstraat 28/30, 2000 Antwerp. A 5-minute walk from Antwerp Central Train Station, with easy access from Brussels airport Zaventem via a direct 30-minute train.
     
  • Schedule: Kick-off at noon on September 11, culminating at noon on September 13. A full day of sessions on September 12 is followed by a social gathering and dinner at the iconic Bourla Theater.
     
  • Speakers: Keynote speakers: Lee Fleming (UC Berkeley), Steve Gong (Google Patents), and Florenta Teodoridis (USC Marshall); and confirmed contributions from: Geert Boedt (EPO), Bruno Cassiman (KU Leuven), Felix Poege (Bocconi Univ), Matteo Tranchero (Wharton School), Robert Tijssen (Stellenbosch & Leiden University) and Reinhilde Veugelers (KU Leuven).

 

Call for Submissions:

We welcome your latest research in the development and use of data and algorithms in ST&I, including machine learning, natural language processing and AI. Submit your extended abstract or full paper, or propose a dedicated session on a specific theme. Send your proposals to sti@kuleuven.be by June 1, 2024. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by June 15, 2024.

 

Registration Fee:

100 EURO, covering all presentations, lunches, refreshments, and the social event and dinner. Please note that participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation arrangements, with numerous hotels conveniently located at walking distance from the workshop venue. The deadline for registration is August 15. The registration form will be made available on this website shortly.
