Application procedure and deadlines

There is no limited number per programme and the admission does not depend on the application date, as long as it is before the deadline. We handle applications chronologically.

Yes, but you will have to pay the application fee (€90) twice. If you get accepted to both, you will be able to choose either programme.

Applications submitted after the published deadlines will not be evaluated. Please note that different deadlines apply to EEA and Non-EEA citizens. You can consult the application deadlines here.

If one of your nationalities is European, then July 1st applies.

Under normal circumstances, you should be able to show your official diploma's and transcripts of records before you can register at the KU Leuven for the programme you are admitted to. The registration deadline is clearly communicated on our website. If you can't show your official diploma before that date, but only an official graduation certificate, then the original diploma must be in before November 30th.

If you apply for a bachelor's programme yes. If you apply for a preparatory/bridging/master's programme, upload a scanned copy of your original high school diploma; it will be sufficient.

Maximum 1 A4 page is advised.

For the bachelor and master programmes no recommendation letters are required. For the Master of Advanced Studies in Economics two recommendation letters are required.

You will have to re-apply for the next academic year and pay the application fee again (if applicable). You will have to upload all the required documents to your online file once more. Your file will be sent to the faculty to be re-evaluated with reference to your admission for the same programme in the previous year. We need to do this as there may have been some programme changes or changes in the admission requirements. Bear in mind that tuition fees may be subject to change. Please note that your new application will be re-examined by the Faculty with reference to your current admission and based on the admission requirements of the academic year 2024-2025.

Practical info

EEA nationals and Non-EEA nationals who reside in Belgium under a valid residence permit (not based on their studies) can follow less than 60 ECTS per academic year and accordingly spread their studies in several years. This possibility needs to be discussed with a study career consultant. Note that there are no part-time, evening or weekend courses organized for this category of students. All English-taught programmes are daytime programmes. Non-EEA nationals who reside in Belgium under a residence permit based on their studies can consult this website.

A start in the second semester is only allowed in exceptional circumstances and not for all our programmes. In any case it is not recommended, as it would interfere with the logical course sequence, prolong your study, and/or require you to take extra courses. In addition visa restrictions may apply. The formal consent of your Study Career Consultant is always required.

You can consult the timetables for the academic year starting in September as of mid July. Select the programme of your interest and click on “Schedule”.

You can find information about what to do before arrival, upon arrival and more practicalities on the information package website.

Yes, this is possible. After graduation, you can apply for a specific residence permit for a ‘search year’. Detailed information can be found here: Information page on residence permits.

Tuitions and funding

You can check how much the study cost of your programme is through our tuition fee tool. Always check the academic year as fees may differ from one academic year to another.

Master of International Business*

* New title is subject to change

Apply for the preparatory programme and the faculty will decide whether you have direct access to the master’s programme or not. The admission requirements are the same.

We have multiple students who combine the programme with a job. Note that this programme is a day programme and is in itself not designed as an evening programme. Most of the classes are organized during the day. Nevertheless, if you have a flexible job that allows you time off to attend class, it is possible to combine the programme with a job. Moreover, you can take the programme at your own pace by spreading the courses over 2-3 years (not applicable to students residing in Belgium under a residence permit based on their studies). Contact your Study Career Consultant for more information about a personalized trajectory. Please note that for Non-EEA citizens residing in Belgium under a residence permit based on their studies restrictions apply: Learn more.
